5 Tips to Surviving the High Street this Christmas

For most of us, online shopping is a God Send, especially when it comes to Christmas, but if you do find yourself forced to venture into an actual shop this festive season, here’s our advice on how to return unscathed.

 1. LITTLE AND OFTEN

Try not to do all your shopping in one hit. Popping out on a lunch break or just before closing time in an evening makes it a lot more painless, and easier to carry back to the car!

 2. TAKE FIVE

When it’s all getting too much, indulge yourself with a treat from one of the many coffee shop festive menus. Amidst any spending trip, we say it’s vital to get yourself some Christmas in a cup and take 5 minutes out. Costa’s Tiramisu Latte wins our approval.

3. OFF THE BEATEN TRACK

Swap the out of town retail park for your local high street and support your independent stores. Chances are, your search for a gift will result in something a little more meaningful, and with a little less pushing and shoving.

4. MAKE A DAY OF IT

If you have left it a little last minute, why not make a day of it and spend a full day in your nearest major city. All the larger outlets go to huge lengths to the make the in store consumer experience as festive as possible. Harrods’s is most definitely the Festive Mecca, that’s if you really want to make a dent in this month’s pay packet.

5. DON’T PANIC

Our most important tip of all. Try not to get caught up in the last minute madness, and just remember that there’s much more to Christmas than shopping.
